A Gibson SG replica in mahogany with chrome fittings and a black and blue stained finish. The finish took some trial and error as a result of a reaction between the stain and oil top coats. Oil is great when the wood is to be left natural, but I will stick to nitrocellulose finishes for colours in future. Nevertheless after polishing the result is quite respectable and plays beautifully with a low action and the classic SG tone. Both the finish and stain are from Crimson Guitars – the penetrating guitar finishing oil and ‘stunning stains’.
