When the CHN-50 speakers were built, the plan was to make them active by means of an Up2Stream amp. I ultimately decided to build them as standard passive boxes so as to hear them running off my main system, and to allow flexibility in future. These active plinths offer the best of both worlds. THey’re not only neat desktop stands, but with the Up2Stream amp integrated. The Up2Stream platform provides Bluetooth and Wifi streaming and is both remote controlled and also fully controllable via a smartphone app. There are analogue inputs and plenty of room within the plinth to add a phono stage in future.
